The Lady Coyote Varsity Basketball team stood toe to toe with the Tuloso Midway Cherokees on Friday night but the 2nd half surge by TM proved too much for the Lady Coyotes to withstand. The final was TM 65 and Alice 46. The loss drops the Lady Coyotes to 1-3 in district. The girls will have a makeup game vs. Zapata on Monday at home beginning at 5:30 pm. The regularly scheuled district game with Robstown will still be played on Tuesday at 6:15 pm.
On a much brighter note the Girls Basketball Program had the honor of retiring Lady Coyote Great Ariel Lichtenberger's #24 on Friday Night.
Ariel was a standout basketball and softball player for the Lady Coyotes and was a 4 year letter winner in both sports, winning Team MVP honors during her High School Career. Ariel went on to play Softball at Texas A&M University Kingsville. Ariel succumb to brian cancer in 2017.
Her framed jersey was unveiled before the game and presented to her family. Many past Lady Coyotes and current Lady Coyotes, coaches and past coaches during her playing days were in attendance to witness the ceremony.
God Bless the Lichtenberger family and present and future Lady Coyotes will always know of the legacy of #24!
