Four Alice Coyotes were named to the Corpus Christi Caller-Times All-South Texas team.
Linebacker Gabriel Sanchez, a junior, was named Second Team All-South Texas. Sanchez led the Coastal Bend in tackles this season from his linebacker position. A first-year varsity player, Sanchez proved to have a nose for the ball and an aggressive style of play. Sanchez earned First-Team All-District honors in 15-5A, Div. II. Sanchez won the team’s MVP Defense Award this season.
Quarterback Isaiah Aguilar and receivers Waylon Moore and Jacob Guzman were Second Team All-South Texas.
Aguilar, a senior, completed 139 of 252 passes for 2,425 yards and 22 touchdowns. He was intercepted eight times. Aguilar also rushed for 532 yards and 13 touchdowns on 159 carries. Aguilar was named Alice’s Most Valuable Player for the 2019 season.
Moore won the MVP Offense Award this season. He was a big-play maker. The senior ended the season with 31 catches for 603 yards and five touchdowns. He averaged 20-yards a catch and his longest reception was for 63 yards.
Guzman, a junior, earned all-district honors as an inside or slot receiver. He led the team with 43 catches for 762 yards and six touchdowns. Waylon and Weston Moore were all-district as outside receivers. Guzman won Alice’s Outstanding Receiver Award this season with teammate Weston Moore.
