The Alice Lady Coyotes returned from the Laredo Border Olympics with something for the athletic department’s trophy case.
Alice placed third in the Bronze Bracket of the annual tournament, which traditionally features some of the best programs in South Texas.
The Lady Coyotes beat Pearsall, 4-0, to reach the Bronze Championship where they defeated Edcouch-Elsa. Alice senior outfielder Samantha Hinojosa hit a home run in the ball game and was named a tournament MVP. It was her first home run this season.
Alice began the tournament with a 1-0 loss to Santa Gertrudis Academy, which went on to win the Gold Bracket of the tournament.
The Lady Coyotes are on the field again Tuesday for its District 29-5A opener against Tuloso-Midway. The first pitch is slated for 6:15 p.m
